Police have arrested a 45-year-old man for using his former residential address to obtain loans from loansharks.

On 7 April 2015 at about 5.40pm, through follow-up investigations, officers from Jurong Police Division arrested the man along Segar Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had used his former residential address when obtaining a loan from loansharks in December 2014. As a result, the current owner was harassed by loansharks.

Investigations against the suspect are ongoing. Under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010), any person who is guilty of providing false contact information to obtain loans from loansharks shall be liable upon conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months.
