Police have arrested a 29-year-old man for a case of theft of motorcycle.

 

2          On 18 April 2015, Police received a report that a motorcycle has been stolen from an open carpark at Jurong West St 41. Following the report, officers from Jurong Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and follow-up investigations. On 21 April 2015 at about 2.30 am, officers arrested the 29 year-old male suspect at a multi-storey carpark along Serangoon North Ave 4. The stolen motorcycle was also recovered following the arrest.  

 

3          The suspect will be charged in Court on 22 April 2015 for the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he would face an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine.

 

4          Police would like to remind motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motor vehicle in well-lit areas;

  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motor vehicle whenever it is left unattended, even if it is only for short moment;

  • Use additional locking devices on your motorcycles, such as disc brake locks; and

  • Install an anti-theft alarm.
