Police and officers from Singapore Armed Forces’ (SAF) Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Explosives Defence Group (CBRE DG) have searched the vehicle involved in the incident at the vicinity of Shangri-La Hotel. No explosives, arms or weapons were found in the vehicle. A bag containing white powdery substances believed to contain controlled drugs was recovered in the vehicle.

 

2          The driver of the Singapore-registered red Subaru Impreza, a 34-year-old man, was pronounced dead at scene. Two men, aged 26 and 31 who were passengers in the vehicle, have been arrested. The 31-year-old man sustained injuries during the incident and was conveyed to hospital conscious. Substances believed to be controlled drugs and an item believed to be a drug-taking utensil were found on the men arrested. The driver and one of the passengers are wanted by the authorities for various offences. All three subjects are Singaporeans.  No weapons were found on the three subjects.

 

3          Preliminary investigations indicate that this is an isolated incident.

 

4          Police investigations are ongoing.
