Police have arrested three men and a woman, aged between 30 and 59, for suspected involvement in a case of Theft in Dwelling reported in the vicinity of Syed Alwi Road.

On 12 August 2015, Police were informed that a bag containing more than $120,000 worth of foreign currencies was stolen from a moneychanger counter which was located in the vicinity of Syed Alwi Road. Through extensive follow up investigations and ground enquiries, the identities of the suspects were received.

On 21 August 2015, through the assistance and close collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), the four suspects were arrested in Malaysia pursuant to a warrant of arrest issued by the State Courts. They were subsequently extradited back to Singapore on 22 August 2015. Upon their arrests, cash of more than $15,000 in different currencies and clothing worn by the suspects during the commission of the offence were seized as case exhibits.

The four suspects will be charged in Court on 24 August 2015 at 9.00am for the offence of Theft in Dwelling with Common Intention under Section 380 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, the suspects face an imprisonment which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine.
