Police have arrested a 44-year-old man suspected to be involved in a case of Theft in Dwelling reported at a hotel along Orange Grove Road.
On 2 September 2015 at about 3.33 pm, a 77-year-old man reported to the Police that his luxury wrist watch valued at about SGD$200,000, as well as cash amounting to SGD$2000 and RM$400, were missing from a locker of the hotel. Following the report, officers from Tanglin Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and subsequently established the suspect’s identity. The suspect was arrested at Jalan Sultan in the early hours of 3 September 2015; within 10 hours from the time the case was reported. The wrist watch was subsequently recovered.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 4 September 2015 at 9.00 am for the offence of Theft in dwelling under Section 380 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine.
