Police have arrested a 42-year-old man for a series of cheating cases involving Taxi-Drivers.

The suspect is believed to have booked or flagged for taxis and directed them to stop over at a food centre before proceeding to his intended destination. He is then believed to have requested for a loan amount ranging between $30-$50 from the taxi drivers, as he allegedly claimed that he did not have enough money to pay for his food. After getting the amount from the taxi drivers, the suspect is believed to have absconded without returning the borrowed amount and without paying the taxi fare.

Through extensive ground enquiries and follow-up investigations, officers from the Bedok Division established the identity of the suspect. He was arrested at Blk 180C Marsiling Road on 7 October 2015.

The suspect is believed to have been involved in cheating more than 30 taxi drivers since May 2015.

He will be charged in court on 9 October 2015 for the offence of Cheating, which is punishable with imprisonment for up to 10 years and fine.
