Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle along Penjuru Road.

On 6 July 2015 at about 3.30pm, the victim reported to the Police that he had discovered items which did not belong to him in his lorry and fresh damages on its exterior. He believed that his lorry had been driven away by an unknown person after he had parked it at Penjuru Road the previous night. Officers from Jurong Division conducted extensive investigations to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested the man along Clementi Avenue 5 on 8 October 2015 at 2.10pm.

He will be charged in Court on 10 October 2015 for the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine.

Police would like to remind motor vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motor vehicle in well-lit areas;
  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motor vehicle whenever it is left unattended, even if it is only for short moment;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm.
