On 12 October 2015 at about 2.25pm, the victim reported to the Police that she had discovered her car missing from the car park of her residence. Upon receiving the report, officers from Tanglin Division commenced immediate investigation and ground enquiries to locate the vehicle.

Through close collaboration, the said car was spotted travelling along AYE by patrol officers from Clementi Division on the same day at about 4.10pm. During the pursuit, the driver abandoned the car along Commonwealth Avenue West and fled on foot. He was subsequently arrested at Clementi Avenue 3.

The man will be charged in Court on 14 October 2015 for the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine.

Police would like to remind motor vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Park your motor vehicle in well-lit areas;
  2. Remove the ignition key and lock the motor vehicle whenever it is left unattended, even if it is only for short moment; and
