Police have arrested 12 persons, aged between 22 and 31, for offences under the Common Gaming Houses Act at a condominium in Choa Chu Kang.

On 18 October 2015 at about 3.15 am, officers from Jurong Division and the Criminal Investigation Department, raided the unit along Choa Chu Kang North 7 and placed nine suspects for gaming in a common gaming house and three other suspects for operating or assisting in operating a common gaming house. Cash, transactions records and other gambling-related paraphernalia were also seized by the Police. Investigations against all the suspects are ongoing.

Any person convicted of an offence of Managing a place to be used as a Common Gaming House under Section 4(1)(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act, shall be liable to a fine of not less than S$5,000 and not more than S$50,000 and shall also be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 years. Any person convicted of an offence of Gaming in a Common Gaming House under Section 7 of the Common Gaming Houses Act, shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding S$5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.
