Police have arrested a man and a woman, both 23 years old, in relation to a series of shop theft cases in the vicinity of Orchard Road.

Since October 2015, Police had received reports from various shops along the Orchard shopping belt where items such as branded wallets and sunglasses were stolen. Through extensive enquiries and investigative follow-ups, officers from Orchard Neighbourhood Police Centre managed to establish the identities of the suspects.

The two suspects were arrested on 21 October in a residential unit along Fajar Road. Luxury sunglasses amounting to a total value of more than S$1,500 were recovered. Preliminary investigations revealed that the two suspects were likely to be responsible for at least 5 cases of shop theft.

The two suspects will be charged in Court on 23 October 2015 at 9.00am for the offence of Theft in Dwelling with Common Intention under Section 380 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, the suspects face an imprisonment which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine.
