On 4 November 2015, a multi-agency joint enforcement operation comprising officers from Jurong Division and the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), was conducted at the vicinity of Yew Tee Industrial Estate. During the operation, seven men suspected to be immigration offenders, were arrested for an earlier rioting case on 16 October 2015. All seven suspects are also believed to be involved in the peddling of duty unpaid cigarettes. A total of 917 packets of duty unpaid cigarettes were seized during the operation.
Investigations against all suspects are ongoing.
Any person who contravenes the offence of Rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, are liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to caning.
