The 35th Shell Traffic Games prize-giving ceremony was held on Thursday, 5 November 2015 at the St Hilda’s Primary School. Mr Desmond Lee, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of National Development graced the event as the Guest-of-Honour.

This event marked the closing of the 35th Shell Traffic Games - an initiative which uses light hearted approach to educate school children on road safety knowledge, behaviours and culture.

Traffic Police (TP) and Singapore Road Safety Council (SRSC), supported by Shell Companies in Singapore, Tote Board, Singapore Pools, ComfortDelGro Driving Centre, Singapore Safety Driving Centre and Bukit Batok Driving Centre, have been actively promoting road safety among the younger generation.

This year, eight primary schools participated in the preliminary rounds of the games from 18 to 24 May 2015. Eight schools made it to the finals held on 5 November 2015 to compete for the Shell Challenge Trophy and other prizes. Chong Fu Primary School emerged as the champion of the 35th Shell Traffic Games.

This morning’s event also saw the launch of a road safety video created by Endeavour Primary School, and the unveiling of a pilot initiative called “Shell Road Safety Corner @ St Hilda’s”. The road safety corner, a collaborative effort by TP, SRSC, Shell and St Hilda’s Primary School, provides information to both children and parents on road safety practices such as identifying blind spots and how to alight their children safely.

In addition, banners bearing the message “Stay Alert. Stay Safe.” will be displayed in all primary schools to raise the road safety consciousness of young children. These banners will be displayed inside and outside the premises of primary schools to remind both students and their parents.

All road users should adopt good RoadSense by staying vigilant, adhering to traffic rules and looking out for one another. Let’s stay safe on the roads and make sure we make it back to our loved ones.
