The police have arrested two men aged 17 and 23 who are believed to be involved in a case of theft of motorcycle components parts.

On 28 November 2015, the victim lodged a police report informing that his motorcycle brake pump and lever were missing from the motorcycle. The motorcycle was parked at the multi-storey car park located at Block 330A Sembawang Close.

Through extensive ground enquiries and images of Police Cameras (POLCAM), officers from Ang Mo Kio Division arrested the suspects at Woodlands Checkpoint on 2 December 2015.

The two suspects will be charged in Court on 4 December 2015 for Theft of Motor Vehicle component parts, which carries a maximum jail term of seven years’ imprisonment and shall also be liable to a fine.

Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police Lian Ghim Hua commended the officers’ relentless pursuit of leads which led to the arrest of the suspect. He also advised members of public to stay vigilant and encouraged motorcyclists to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas ;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm for your vehicle;
  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends; and
  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install suspension guard.
