The Police have arrested a 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, in connection to a series of theft of jewelleries.

On 5 December 2015, the Police received a report of theft at a goldsmith shop located at Blk 505 Jurong West St 52. It is believed that the 24-year-old suspect had entered the shop on the pretext of buying some jewelleries from the shop before fleeing with two gold chains. Through follow up investigations, it was revealed that the 20-year-old suspect is believed to have assisted to dispose the stolen properties for cash. They were subsequently arrested at Blk 148 Woodlands St 13 on 8 December 2015. The duo are believed to be involved in at least two other similar cases.

Both suspects will be charged in Court on 9 December 2015. The man will be charged for the offence of Theft in Dwelling, under Section 380 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also liable to fine. The woman will be charged for the offence of assisting in the disposal of stolen property, under Sec 414 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, she faces imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years, or with fine, or both.
