Police have arrested a 27-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle.

On 24 October 2015, the victim reported that his motorcycle was stolen from a multi-storey carpark at Segar Road. Following the report, officers from Jurong Division conducted extensive follow-up investigation. Through the review of images from Police cameras (POLCAM) and ground enquiries, the officers managed to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 7 December 2015 at Segar Road.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 9 December 2015 for the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, the suspect will face an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine.

Police would like to remind motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motor vehicle in well-lit areas;
  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motor vehicle whenever it is left unattended, even if it is only for short moment;
  • Use additional locking devices on your motorcycles, such as disc brake locks; and
  • Install an anti-theft alarm.
