The Police have arrested a 44-year-old man believed to be involved in a series of Housebreaking and Theft cases along Thomson Road.
Between 29 December 2015 and 1 January 2016, Police received reports of several break-ins at a commercial building located along Thomson Road.
Through extensive ground enquiries and investigation, officers from Tanglin Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Cosford Road on 5 January 2016.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 7 January 2016 for the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 14 years.
The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are well secured with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks;
- Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition; and
- Keep large sums of cash in banks and expensive jewellery in a safe deposit box.
