On 24 December 2015 at about 3.00am, Police received a call requesting for assistance along Circular Road. Upon Police’s arrival, two 30-year-old men were discovered with injuries at the said location and were conveyed to the Singapore General Hospital for medical treatment. One of the two men subsequently succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on 1 January 2016 at about 10.14pm.

Police responded swiftly to the incident and conducted extensive follow-up investigations. Till date, a total of 14 suspects, comprising 11 men and three women aged between 20 and 42, have been arrested in connection with the incident. Nine suspects have already been charged in Court for the offence of Rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years and caning.

Four suspects will be charged in Court on 7 January 2016 – one suspect for the offence of Rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224; while three suspects will be charged for the offence of Murder with Common Objective under Section 302 read with Section 149 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which carries the death penalty.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
