The Police have arrested a 42 year old man for suspected involvement in loansharking activities.

On 4 February 2016, through follow up investigation for a loanshark harassment case reported on 3 February 2016 at Pasir Ris Street 53, officers from Bedok Division arrested the suspect in the vicinity of Bukit Batok.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to have carried out loanshark harassments island-wide by splashing paint and scrawling loanshark graffiti on the walls.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 6 February 2016 for loanshark harassment. Under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010), first time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
