On 23 April 2016 at about 5.20pm, the Police received a report of break-in at a residence in Sentosa, where cash was found missing from the premises.

Upon receipt of the report, officers from Central Division conducted extensive investigations and established the identity of the suspect before arresting him on 25 April 2016 at about 2.00 a.m. along Kampong Java Road.

The suspect is believed to be involved in other similar cases and will be charged in Court on 26 April 2016 with the offence of House-breaking and Theft by Day under Section 454 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 10 years.

Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures to protect their premises against break-ins:

  • Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are properly secured with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks;

  • Secure all doors and window grills before retiring to bed or when leaving your house unattended, even for a short while;

  • Keep large sums of cash in banks and expensive jewellery in a safe deposit box; and

Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
