The Police have arrested two men, aged 48 and 63, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of copper wires along Victoria Street.

 

On 10 May 2016 at about 6.09 pm, the Police received a report that large amounts of copper wires used for grounding works were missing from a commercial building along Victoria Street. The estimated value of the stolen wires is about $120,000/-.

 

Upon receipt of the report, officers from Central Division conducted extensive follow-up investigations and established the identity of the two suspects. Both suspects were subsequently arrested within 16 hours of the report being lodged, at the vicinity of Punggol Central on 11 May 2016 at about 11.55 pm.

 

The suspects will be charged in Court on 13 May 2016 with an offence of Theft with common intention under Section 379 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Upon conviction, they may be liable for imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or with both.
