The Police have arrested two men, aged 26 and 27 for their suspected involvement in two cases of theft of motor vehicles.

Between 14 June 2017 and 15 June 2017, Police received two reports of two motorcycles being stolen from the carparks along Jalan Bukit Merah and Telok Blangah Rise. Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of footages from Police Cameras (POLCAMs), officers from Central Police Division managed to establish the identities of the two suspects and arrested them along Telok Blangah Rise on 15 June 2017 at about 7 pm.

The two men will be charged in Court on 17 June 2017 with an offence of Theft of a Motor Vehicle punishable under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a punishment of imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;

  • Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;

  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;

  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and

  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
