The Police have arrested a 42-year-old man for involvement in a job scam.

On 11 Aug 2016, a 31-year-old woman reported to the Police that she was cheated by a suspect who promised to offer better paid job opportunity for her in Singapore.

Investigations revealed that the victim had responded to the suspect’s offer of job placement and had paid him a sum of S$6,810/- for his services between May and July 2016.  On receipt of payments made by victim, the suspect became uncontactable.

Through extensive investigations, officers from Tanglin Division managed to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested him at Woodlands Street 83 on 13 Aug 2016.

The suspect will be charged in the State Courts on 15 Aug 2016 with an offence of Cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Any person convicted of an offence of Cheating, may be jailed for a term of not extending more than 10 years for each offence.
