The Police have arrested a 46-year-old man for suspected involvement in a case of Housebreaking and Theft at Frankel Street, with assistance from the public.

On 27 October 2016 at about 11.12am, a 30-year-old woman spotted an unknown man in her house along Frankel Street. She shouted at the man and he then fled with a handbag containing 820 British pounds.  The woman shouted for assistance and a civic-minded member of the public, Mr Eugene Goh, immediately stopped his car and detained the suspect. The handbag and a pair of scissors, believed to be used by the suspect, were seized as case exhibits.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 28 October 2016 with an offence of Housebreaking and Theft under Section 454 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to fine.

Commander of Bedok Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police Alvin Moh, commended the member of the public for assisting in the arrest. He said, “This case illustrates the close partnership between the Police and the Community in fighting crime. Mr Goh had played an important role in the arrest and his selflessness and public-spiritedness are commendable.”
