The Police have arrested a 48-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of Motor Vehicle Theft at Sin Ming Road.

 

On 31 October 2016 at about 12.06 a.m., a 46-year-old owner of a transport company reported that one of her 23-seater bus was stolen at the heavy vehicle carpark located at Sin Ming Road. Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV footages, officers from Tanglin Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him at Bedok Division on 22 November 2016.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 24 November 2016 with the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle punishable under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which carries a maximum jail term of seven years’ imprisonment and shall also be liable to a fine.

 

The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

 

·        Park in well-lit areas;

·        Install an anti-theft alarm system;

·        Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when vehicle is parked, even if it is for a short while;

·        Look around the vicinity for suspicious characters before leaving. If you see any   suspicious characters, take note of their appearance, attire, height, or any other distinctive physical features and inform the Police for assistance. Do not confront them.
