Launch of Mall Watch at Police Community Roadshow at Waterway Point

The Singapore Police Force is organising the Police Community Roadshows at four different locations across the island, over four consecutive weekends between 26 November 2016 and 18 December 2016.  Please refer to Annex A for details of the roadshows.

The roadshows aim to raise awareness on police work with the emphasis on three areas: Real Work That Matters, Equipped to Succeed, and Community Leaders.

Members of the public were able to view equipment used by the frontline policing officers upfront, and experience the investigative work done by police officers, including fingerprint dusting using the Fingerprinting Kit. They also learnt more about policing work through the various exhibitions and demonstrations. Please refer to Annex B for the highlights of the roadshows.

Guest-of-Honour Dr Janil Puthucheary, Minister of State, Ministry of Communication and Information and Ministry of Education and Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, launched the Mall Watch Community and Safety and Security Project at the second Police Community Roadshow at Waterway Point on 26 November 2016.

Mall Watch is one of the initiatives which showcased the close collaborations and strong partnership between the SPF and the community. It was introduced to enhance the safety and security of heartland malls and provide a safe and secure shopping environment for both retailers and shoppers.

Through the initiative, officers from Ang Mo Kio Division conducts regular training, joint patrol and activities with the retailers and staff from Waterway Point to raise awareness on crime prevention. Surveys are also conducted with the retailers to assess and enhance the effectiveness of their security measures.
