The Police are investigating a 30-year-old man who is believed to have lodged a false report. He reported that his belongings were robbed by two unknown persons along Merpati Road.

On 6 January 2017 at about 9.43pm, the 30 year-old man reported to the Police, alleging that he was assaulted and robbed by two unknown subjects of his sling bag containing cash and valuables with a total value of about $5,000/-.

Officers from Bedok Division detected several inconsistencies during the course of investigation. It was eventually established that he had provided false information to the Police.

Investigations against the man are ongoing. Anyone who is convicted of giving any information which he knows to be false to a public servant shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to $5000, or with both.
