The Police have arrested two men, aged 25 and 45 for their suspected involvement in a case of Housebreaking and Theft at Berwick Drive.
On 25 December 2016 at about 4.52pm, the Police received a report from a victim, informing that her home had been ransacked. Cash and valuables amounting to S$3000 were missing.
Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Ang Mo Kio Division established the identities of the suspects and arrested them on 16 January 2017.
The 25-year-old man will be charged in Court on 18 January 2017 with the offence of Housebreaking and Theft under Section 454 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 10 years. Investigations against the 45-year-old man are ongoing.
The Police would like to advise all home owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

Avoid leaving valuables near openings such as windows and doors;

Secure all doors, window grills and other openings with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks before retiring to bed or when leaving your home unattended, even for a short while;

Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
