The Police have arrested three 18-year-old men for their suspected involvement in a case of rioting reported along Petir Road.
On 11 March 2017 at about 7.03am, a 24-year-old man reported to the Police that he had been assaulted by a group of men along Petir Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that the three suspects had assaulted the victim after a dispute.
Through extensive ground enquiries and investigations, officers from Jurong Division established the identities of the suspects and swiftly arrested two of them in Bukit Panjang. The third suspect was subsequently arrested in Choa Chu Kang.
Police investigations are still ongoing. Any person who contravenes the offence of rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, are liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to caning.
