The Police have arrested a 39-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of cheating.

 

On 22 June 2017, Police received a report from a victim who had purportedly been cheated by a man who misrepresented himself as a journalist from Shin Min newspaper soliciting advertisement for a fee. The man became uncontactable after payment was made by the victim.

 

Upon receipt of the report, officers from Tanglin Division conducted extensive investigations and established the identity of the suspect. He was arrested at Blk 112 Bukit Purmei on 27 June 2017. Police investigations are on-going.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 29 June 2017 for an offence of Cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Any person found guilty for the offence of cheating may be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend up to 10 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
