The Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.

 

On 8 August 2017, the Police was informed that a man was behaving suspiciously along the corridor of a block located at Lorong Ah Soo. The man was subsequently arrested by the Police. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be associated with loansharking activities.

 

The man is also believed to be involved in similar cases of loanshark harassments in other areas such as Bukit Batok, Ang Mo Kio and Sengkang.

 

The man will be charged in Court on 10 August 2017 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). First time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
