The Police have arrested a 60-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft from motor vehicles

Between June and July 2017, the Police had received several reports of theft from motor vehicles in Bedok, Balestier, Pasir Ris and Tampines housing estates. Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 16 August 2017 along Lorong 29 Geylang.

The man will be charged in Court on 18 August 2017 with the offence of Theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or with both.

The Police would like to remind the public to adopt the following crime prevention to safeguard their vehicle against theft:

  • Park in well-lit areas and do not leave valuables in the vehicle;

  • Install an anti-theft alarm system;

  • Remove cash-cards and other valuables, such as laptops before leaving your vehicle, even if it is for a short while; and

  • Wind up all windows and close all doors of your vehicle, even if it is left unattended for a short while.
