The Police have arrested a 51-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft from vehicles.

 

Between 9 and 28 September 2017, the Police received several reports from victims who informed that their handphones and cashcards were stolen from their vehicles which were parked at Toa Payoh Estate.

 

Through extensive follow up investigations, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him at Toa Payoh Central on 28 September 2017.

 

Investigations are ongoing. The offence of Theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 years or with fine, or with both.

 

To prevent theft from vehicles, the Police would like to advise vehicle owners to adopt the following precautionary measures:

  • Install an anti-theft alarm system;

  • Do not leave cash and valuables such as cashcards, laptops, handphones, briefcase or wallets in your vehicle and

  • Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when vehicle is parked, even if it is for a short while.
