The Police are investigating 10 suspects, aged between 17 and 19, into three separate cases of Forgery for the Purpose of Cheating.
Between August and September 2017, the Police received three separate reports about individuals who attempted to enter public entertainment outlets using forged entry stamps, in order to avoid paying entry fee. Preliminary investigations revealed that forged entry stamps of a public entertainment outlet were illegally made, sold and used during one of the case. In two other reported cases, it is believed that the genuine entry stamps were duplicated and transferred among the suspects via skin contact. It was also established that several of these individuals did not meet the legal age requirement to enter the public entertainment outlets.
Investigations against the suspects are ongoing.
Members of the public are advised to pay for the entry fee and obtain the official entry stamp only from the public entertainment outlets. Individuals who do not fulfil the minimum age requirement should not attempt to enter the such outlets.
Any person found guilty of Forgery for the Purpose of Cheating under Section 468 of the Penal Code may be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to a fine. Anyone who intentionally aid in, or abet the commission of the said offence may also be liable for the same punishment.
