The Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle.

On 20 October 2017 at 6.20 am, the Police received a report of a motorcycle which was stolen from the multi-storey car park of Blk 116A Bedok North Road. Upon receipt of the report, officers from Bedok Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and established the identity of the man. On 27 October 2017 at 7pm, he was arrested in the vicinity of Blk 528 Bedok North Street 3.

 

The man will be charged in Court on 28 October 2017 with the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, the suspect is liable to an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;

  • Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;

  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends; 

  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and

Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
