The Police have arrested a 33-year-old woman for her suspected involvement in several cheating cases.

In October 2017, Police received several reports from elderly victims who were lured into subscribing to new mobile phone lines with the promise that they would then receive financial assistance from welfare or religious organizations. However, after the victims had subscribed to these new mobile phone lines, the woman took the mobile phones and was not contactable by the victims thereafter.

Officers from Bedok Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and established the identity of the woman, who was arrested on 31 October 2017.

The woman will be charged in Court on 2 November 2017 with the offence of Cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a punishment of imprisonment for a term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
