The Police have arrested four youths aged between 16 and 17 who are believed to be involved in a series of theft of motor vehicle cases reported in Tampines.

On 5 November 2017 at about 9.00pm, the Police received a report from a man informing that his motorcycle, which was parked in a multi-storey carpark, had been tampered and his helmet had gone missing.

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police Cameras (Polcams), officers from Bedok Police Division managed to establish that a group of youths had removed the motorcycle from the multi-storey carpark and then later returned it to its original parking position. The identities of the youths were established and they were subsequently arrested at Tampines Central Park and along Tampines Ave 4 between 6 November 2017 and 7 November 2017. Based on preliminary investigations, they are believed to be involved in other cases of theft.

All four youths will be charged in Court on 8 November 2017 for the offence of Theft of Vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, the suspect is liable to an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and a fine.
