The Police Coast Guard (PCG) has arrested six men, aged between 23 and 58, for their suspected involvement in illegal transactions of Marine Gas Oil (MGO).

On 20 November 2017 at 11.49 am, PCG received information about an illegal sale of MGO at the sea off Tanah Merah. On the same day, PCG officers arrested two men, crew of a Singapore registered tugboat, for misappropriating more than five thousand liters of the MGO. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of another 4 men, crew of a foreign registered tugboat, for purchasing the stolen MGO which has a market value of $3300. During the investigations, cash amounting to $885 and the foreign registered tugboat were seized for investigations.

The six suspects will be charged in Court on 22 November 2017 for the offence of Criminal Breach of Trust as Servant punishable under section 408 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 15 years, and shall also be liable to a fine
