45 women and 4 men, aged between 23 and 48, were arrested for various offences in a 4-day multi-agency joint enforcement operation that commenced on 5 December 2017 and ended on 8 December 2017.
The operation was led by Jurong Police Division and supported by officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and Singapore Customs. The operation covered multiple locations in western Singapore, including Bukit Batok, Chua Chu Kang, Jurong West and Woodlands.
During the operation, 37 women were arrested for suspected involvement in vice-related activities at residential units and forested areas. Another 4 men and 8 women were arrested for suspected involvement in various offences such as cheating, being members of unlawful societies, immigration and employment-related offences.
Three public entertainment outlets were found to have flouted regulations under the Public Entertainment Act. Two of these public entertainment outlets were also found to have breached Fire Safety Rules and Regulations. 26 offenders were caught with duty-unpaid cigarettes and were issued composition sums ranging from $500 to $2,400.
Investigations against all suspects are ongoing.
Commander (covering) of Jurong Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) Julian Chee expressed his appreciation to all officers and agencies involved for their strong support and collaboration which led to the successful operation. DAC Chee added “This joint operation is part of Police’s continuous efforts to clamp down criminal activities. The Police will continue to work closely with other Home Team and law enforcement agencies to deal with those who take part in these illicit activities.’
