The Police are investigating a 20-year-old man who is believed to have lodged a false report.

On 16 September 2017 at about 4.35pm, the man lodged a police report stating that his motorcycle that was parked at Blk 204A Punggol Field was stolen.

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division detected several inconsistencies during the course of investigation. It was established that the man had provided false information to the Police.

Investigations against the man are on-going. Anyone who is convicted for giving any information which he knows to be false to a public servant shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to $5000, or with both.

The Police would like to remind the public that our resources can be put to better use in dealing with real crimes and emergencies than investigating false reports or false information. Those who lodge false Police reports or provide false information will face serious consequences under the law.
