The Police have arrested two men aged 34 and 35, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft from person.

On 18 December 2017 at about 3.45 pm, a victim reported that her wallet containing credit cards and cash of about $800/- was stolen.

Through extensive follow up and investigations, the two suspects were arrested in Geylang at 10.30pm on the same day. The victim’s wallet and belongings were recovered. Preliminary investigations suggest that one of the suspects had stood near the victim to block her way before the other suspect retrieved items from the victim’s bag. The two suspects are believed to be involved in a separate case of theft from person along Orchard Road.

Both suspects will be charged in Court on 20 December 2017 with the offence of Theft with Common Intention under Section 379 read with 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they face an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 years or with fine, or with both.

The Police would like to remind members of the public to be vigilant of their surroundings and to safeguard their belongings in crowded places, especially during this festive season.
