The Central Police Division conducted two separate enforcement operations targeting vice activities along Stamford Road and Hoe Chiang Road on 5 January 2018.

 

Two women, aged 32 and 60, and a 58-year-old man were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter and Common Gaming Houses Act. Of the trio arrested, the 32-year-old woman who is on a Social Visit Pass, allegedly made use of her stay here to carry out vice activities before her arrest. Separately, the 60-year-old woman allegedly collected illegal 4D bets with the assistance of her 58-year-old accomplice. A total of S$166 was seized from the duo.

 

Landlords and premise owners are advised to ensure that their tenants do not carry out illegal and vice activities in their premises. Unlicensed brothel operators can be given a maximum fine of $10,000 and/or up to five years’ imprisonment. Any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of another person can be jailed up to five years and fined up to $10,000. Anyone who assists in the carrying on of a public lottery shall be liable on conviction to a fine of not less than $20,000 and not more than $200,000, and shall also be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years.

 

The Police will spare no effort in clamping down on such vice activities. Those found engaging in illicit activities will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
