The Police have arrested a 70-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle.

On 10 January 2018 at about 1.10pm, the Police received a report from a 35-year-old man, informing that his motorcycle parked at Blk 99 Aljunied Crescent was missing. Officers from Bedok Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and established the identity of the man. On the same day at about 5.20pm, the man was arrested along Paya Lebar Way, less than five hours of the report lodged.    

 

Investigations against the man are ongoing.  Anyone convicted for the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 is liable to an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;

  • Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;

  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends; 

  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and

  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
