The Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for his suspected involvement in loansharking activities.
On 3 and 5 February 2018, the Police received reports that three residential units at Beo Crescent, Whampoa Drive and Owen Road had their gates splashed with paint. Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him along Boon Lay Avenue on 6 February 2018.
The man will be charged in Court on 8 February 2018 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). First-time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years and shall also be liable to a fine of not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory caning of not less than 3 and not more than 6 strokes.
