Another Eleven Men Arrested For Illegal Transaction Of Marine Fuel

The Police Coast Guard (PCG) has arrested another eleven men, aged between 21 and 40, for their suspected involvement in an illegal transaction of Marine Gas Oil (MGO).

 

On 19 January 2018, PCG received information that an unknown foreign registered vessel was believed to be involved in an illegal sale of 200 metric tons of MGO, which has an estimated market value of S$97,000.

 

PCG had arrested 11 crew members of the foreign registered vessel for their suspected involvement in the case on 5 February 2018. They were charged in Court for Criminal Breach of Trust as Servant on 7 February 2018.

 

Through further investigations, PCG has arrested another nine foreign crew members of a Singapore registered vessel and two Singaporean men for misappropriating the MGO without the company’s knowledge and selling it to a foreign registered tugboat.

 

The eleven men will be charged in Court on 10 February 2017 with the offence of Criminal Breach of Trust as Servant punishable under section 408 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 15 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
