The Police have arrested a 16-year-old youth for his suspected involvement in a series of cheating cases. 

 

On 10 February 2018, the Police received two reports victims stating that they had been cheated by an unknown youth who had offered to sell virtual game accessories in exchange for cash. Preliminary investigations revealed that the youth had arranged for a meet-up with the victims and had distracted them after payment was made, before fleeing towards an unknown direction.

 

Through extensive follow-up investigations, officers from Tanglin Police Division arrested the suspect on 12 February 2018.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 13 February 2018 with the offence of Cheating, under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Any person found guilty for the offence of cheating may be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend up to 10 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
