The Police have arrested 14 women, aged between 27 and 44, for employment-related offences during an operation conducted against massage establishments and public entertainment outlets on 12 and 13 February 2018.
During the operation, Central Police Division conducted a series of enforcement checks on massage establishments and public entertainment outlets located in Chinatown, Jalan Besar and Jalan Bukit Merah.
Two massage establishments were found to be operating without valid licences. Two licensed massage establishments were also found to have contravened licensing conditions. A 36-year-old woman, who was allegedly working illegally at one of the unlicensed massage establishments, was arrested under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.
Another 13 women, aged between 27 and 44, were arrested for working without a license at a public entertainment outlet. Actions will also be taken against the operator of the public entertainment outlet for contravening licensing conditions.
The Police take a serious view of anyone found breaking the law and will continue to take tough enforcement stance against such activities.
