The Police have arrested a 52-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of Housebreaking and Theft by Day. 

 

On 14 December 2017 at about 10.55 am, the Police received a report that a residential unit located at Blk 488 Jurong West Ave 1 had been broken into. Cash amounting to $700, a laptop and two mobile phones were reported missing.

 

With the aid of images from Police Cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division conducted extensive enquiries and established the identity of the suspect. He was arrested on 21 February 2018.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 23 February 2018 with the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Day under Section 454 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 10 years.

 

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are well secured with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks;

  • Secure all doors and window grills before retiring to bed or when leaving your home unattended, even for a short while;

  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor lights and/or close circuit surveillance cameras to cover the access points into your premises; and

  • Avoid leaving valuables near openings such as windows and doors.
