The Police have arrested a 32-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.
On 20 February 2018 at 1.39am, the Police were alerted by the victim who informed that loanshark graffiti was found scrawled on the wall outside his unit at Blk 566 Pasir Ris Street 51. Through extensive ground enquiries and the aid of images from Police Cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 21 February 2017.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 23 February 2018 under the Moneylenders Act. Under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010), first time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
