The Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of cases of theft of motorcycle parts reported at Woodlands estate.
On 21 February 2018 at 9.20am, the Police received a report on the theft of motorcycle parts at a multi-storey carpark at Woodlands Drive 16. Officers from Jurong Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of Police cameras (POLCAM), the man was subsequently arrested on the same day. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to be involved in several other similar cases.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 23 February 2018 with the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle or any component part thereof under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he will face an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine.
Police would like to remind motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;

Install an anti-theft alarm system for your motorcycle;

Use a motorcycle canvas to cover your motorcycle, securing both ends.

Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install suspension guards; and
-
Exercise due diligence in verifying if the motor vehicle parts you intend to purchase are from legitimate dealers.
