The Police have arrested a 42-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft cases.

On 24 February 2018, the Police were alerted to a theft case in which a female victim discovered her mobile phone missing from her handbag, after an unknown man had bumped into her while she was on an escalator. Through extensive ground enquiries and follow-up investigations, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 27 February 2018. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect is believed to be involved in other similar cases.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 1 March 2018 with an offence of theft. If convicted, he may be punished with an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 years, and shall also be liable to fine.
